strange systems

EUG

Independent software studio · Eugene, Oregon

Hard problems,
made to feel like magic.

Strange Systems builds thoughtful, carefully designed applications that make people’s days better and their work faster. Clean engineering underneath, delight on the surface, and no fear of the difficult science in between.

01

The work

Six products, each built to do one thing better than it has any right to.

  1. SS‑01

    Flagship

    Ishoo

Make something with AI. Keep it together.

A desktop companion for building with coding agents. Your agent keeps the plan, the tasks, the decisions and the proof of what shipped, right inside your project. You see what comes next, and any new conversation picks up exactly where the last one stopped.

Launching soon Windows · Linux ishoo.app
  2. SS‑02

    No Ceremony

    Your day, automatically sorted.

A calm daily list that keeps your notes, remembers what you finished, and decides the order for you, so the next right thing is always first.

  3. SS‑03

    CropASAP

Crop a whole folder before your coffee cools.

A fast, dependency-light image cropper that runs entirely in your browser. Pick a size, frame a batch, export. No uploads, no accounts.

    In development Web Try it
  4. SS‑04

    ActuallyQuit

    So “quit” actually means quit.

Puts misbehaving apps under kernel-level supervision. Close the window and everything goes with it: no leftover helpers, no tray ghosts, no zombie processes.

    Launching soon Windows
  5. SS‑05

    Panel Studio

    working title

    Comic page layouts, in minutes.

A focused, professional tool for designing, revising and exporting comic panel layouts across a page or a whole book, then handing them to the drawing app you already use, without lock-in.

    In development Desktop · GPU
  6. SS‑06

    PasteBucket

The clipboard your computer should have shipped with.

Hold CtrlC instead of tapping it and every copy stacks up in a bucket. Paste, and it all comes back out in order. Written in Rust. Nothing leaves your machine.

    In testing Windows · Linux

How we build

  1. A

    Magic is engineered.

The moments that feel effortless are the ones that took the most work. We sweat the animation curve, the empty state, the millisecond.

  2. B

    Clean power.

Native where it matters, lean everywhere else. Software should be fast, quiet and respectful of the machine it runs on.

  3. C

    Hard problems welcome.

Kernel process supervision, GPU layout engines, agent coordination. We go straight at the difficult part, and we finish it.

  4. D

    Tools, not traps.

Your files stay yours. Your data stays local. Every product should leave you faster and freer than it found you.

Spencer Nunamaker
Spencer NunamakerFounder

Strange Systems is one person, for now: Spencer Nunamaker, a designer, musician and builder in Eugene, Oregon.

Spencer trained as a musician at Berklee, then spent twelve years shipping to real customers. From 2011 to 2023 he built and ran tiptopbrushes, a creative-tools business for Procreate artists that served more than 100,000 people, entirely solo. Alongside it he was art director for the sample-library maker Soundiron, leading more than a hundred product launches on a monthly cadence.

All of that now goes into software. Every Strange Systems product is designed, engineered and polished by the same pair of hands, built in Rust and TypeScript with AI as the implementation partner, and sweated over until it feels inevitable.
